Fuck it. Do it anyway.

Welcome to Wed., Oct. 25th which is a 9 in Numerology. The 9 represents wisdom and completion.

As we walk down this road, (hopefully you are taking the road less traveled) there are risks that we are constantly taking. Not knowing what might be around the corner is stressful. What obstacles will we encounter? We never know. The fear of not knowing makes most quit, but when you have committed to your dream… quitting is not an option.

So whatever goal you are trying to achieve, know that it will not be easy. Know that there will be risks. Know that there will be obstacles.

You’ve chosen the road less traveled.

This is where wisdom is achieved.

Some might be born with a more intuitive sense than others, but for the most part, wisdom comes from experience and the harder the lesson, the wiser we become.
Peace!

Leggo my Ego

Welcome to Tuesday, Oct. 24th which is an 8 in Numerology. The 8 is the infinity symbol. Manifesting abundance and having inner-wisdom. Tapping into this inner wisdom we have a ‘knowing’. It’s something we can’t put into words, but it is there. As if an internal guidance system were directing us as we, on the surface… on this Earth plane are on auto-pilot. But there are some of us that choose to be an active player in this guidance system. The way we do that is through meditation. Through listening and trusting our ‘gut’ instincts. That is how to really ‘know’. There are those that are on autopilot that doesn’t understand this because they live in the Ego alone (Remember, we are 3 part beings). So we, that tap into this guidance system let those who aren’t… we let them go. We can guide them ourselves and possibly get them to tap into that guidance system as well, but if they choose not to that is ok. This is their dream, not ours. Fighting to get them to confront their demons only brings our energy to their level. Does that mean that we are superior to them? Not in the least. As I said… this is their dream or journey and maybe they need to learn more before they take that plunge. Either way, we learn from them to keep our own ego in check.
Peace!
David

Be part of the flow

Pilate: “So you are a King?” Jesus: “It’s you that say I am. I look for truth and find that I get damned.” Pilate: “But what is truth? Is truth a changing law? We both have truths. Are mine the same as yours?”

Welcome to Monday, Oct. 23rd which is a 7 in Numerology. The 7 is the seeker of truth. Deep personal truth. I’ve referenced the above before from Jesus Christ Superstar. As Pilate states, “We both have truths.” No truer words have been spoken. Forgive me for my redundancy, but I believe this is at the root of all our our personal and societal problems. If we allowed everyone to live their own truth… I’m talking about their deep personal truth, not the ‘truth’ mandated to them through family or society, we would live in a much more peaceful world. Our truths can change as well. The second we mandate a law for ourselves or anybody else we are welcoming those laws to be broken, as they always have been. Slavery used to be a law here, it was broken. Women weren’t allowed to vote, it was broken. Marijuana used to be illegal in many states, we are watching that change as these words are being written. There are hundreds more examples. Like the ocean, we need to learn it’s lessons that it gives us. The ocean ebbs and flows… or as we like to say, “Go with the flow.”
Where are you not allowing flow in your life? Where are you not pulling back when you need to? You are going against the natural current of life by your stubbornness. Allow yourself to accept the possibility of change for the better. For the betterment of yourself, and the betterment of mankind.

Peace!

Here is a song I write with a project I was involved with called ‘D.N.A.’ It’s called The Flow. Click here to listen to it and download it if you wish.

Here are also the lyrics for you to follow along to…

The Flow

Most of my life I’ve been asking the questions,
“Who am I? What is this constant obsession?”
When all I’ve wanted was just a place to call home.

I thought I had it right, did what I’m told
Threw it all away to follow the fold
And now I sit here wondering what it’s all for?

Free yourself. Free your soul.
Let go [of] the part you want to control
Just stay still. Just let go.
You’re so caught up in ‘having to know’.
Be part of the Flow

I’ve tried with all my heart to follow my dreams
Sometimes I falter, sometimes I scream
Still… I look forward. Never stray from my goal.

Free yourself. Free your soul.
Let go [of] the part you want to control
Just stay still. Just let go.
You’re so caught up in ‘having to know’.
Be part of the Flow

Beating Facebook’s Algorithm: Is it as easy as we thought?

(Article shared from the Elephant Journal. Go here for the original post.)

Just when we think we’ve got it all figured out, we realize we are wrong.

At Elephant Journal, we’re always trying to find the loophole to the limits set by Facebook and beat the algorithm.

Once we experimented with trying to gain control of what ran through our daily newsfeeds. The solution was to simply not “like” anything, confuse the program, and make it feed us a variety of news, not just the ones we “liked.” Breaking down the silos and creating a more balanced and mindful social media were the goals. It seemed to be successful.

If only it were that easy.

Facebook has changed since then. It notices more than what we like. The business tracks what we comment upon, who we message, and ranks our engagement differently by weighting our reactions of a heart or sad face as more valued than the ol’ thumbs up.

So, a new strategy to free feeds from the algorithm might be to not like, comment, or message anyone on Facebook at all. We could just call or text instead. Problem solved, right?

Nope. Facebook is also noticing how long we spend on each person’s post, even if we never engage at all. If we slow down on any post, it is noted and added to the greater gathered information about us. Then, it feeds us more posts like that one.

To be fair, the amount of information that could be in my feed is insurmountable. A billion people use Facebook today. By setting up this algorithm, Facebook makes our time on it more pleasurable as we are fed what we like. It is favoring the faster loading sites and eliminating the annoying ones that thrive on click bait. Nice, eh?

However, when we hear that our photos, our likes, and our time on one post is being shared and sold, the smile fades. If we would like the business of Facebook to stop spying on us and selling our details to outside sources, we need to just. Stop. Using. It.

Otherwise, we need to make a plea to the company to change (good luck there), or create another space that brings people together around the world to share their stories. We already have Instagram, but that is owned by Facebook. Twitter, Snapchat, and other sites offer connection. Yet in those arenas, we are more limited. Have any other ideas?

Do we go back to the old system of emailing or the ancient method of mailing letters with stamps and everything? How about the times before that when one left the village…that was it, never to be heard from again?

Social media used to be like the Wild West. Now, it has become a monopoly that seems to run a black market. Is it all really that dark? Is the fate of Facebook to be either a place where we allow no privacy, where our souls are sold or do we have more power than that?

“Several of them would have protested if they could have found the right arguments.” ~ George Orwell, Animal Farm

Join us in finding mindful arguments and answers, even if we are learning the best language to protest something we “like.”

What’s happening in my world?

There is a lot going on right now and I am completely grateful.

First and foremost before I get into the music.
We experienced the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. History here in Las Vegas. We’ve experienced this tragedy first hand, but we’ve also seen people unite like never before. My fiance is one of the many people who worked tirelessly for the last week with the victims. She is a nurse here in Las Vegas and one of the most powerful people I know. When she comes home crying, you know that it was bad.

To every Police Officer, Fire Fighter, Nurse, Doctor, Paramedic, and those that selflessly helped those in need… I salute you. I salute you as a Marine. I salute you as a Human Being. I salute you for your dedication to your vocation. As tragic as this was, it was a lesson that even though there is bad in the world there is an equal amount of good. The Yin/Yang. You can’t have one without the other. Stay positive.

So… now on to the music.

Kill Ritual is well underway at the moment with a tour coming up in the new year, as well as a new label, video, CD and we are going Vinyl on this next one which I am very excited for. The line-up is solid with myself, Steven Rice, Jim Pegram, Chris Lotesto and Seamus Gleason. We did our first show together last month up in Santa Rosa at the House of Rock. This is the first time I’ve felt the groove that we’ve never had. Both Jim and Seamus locked it in giving Steven and I the freedom to do what we do. It was quite epic. I’m sure videos will pop up soon.

I have also joined Foundry, with Mark Boals singing with me and playing Bass… I have to pinch myself when we do rehearsals because he is such a down to earth guy with one of the most amazing voices in Rock n Roll. I don’t want my respect and admiration to overshadow the talent of Marc Brattin on drums and James Fucci on guitar, they both bring an element that cannot be denied. This will be a powerhouse line-up of shows coming up here soon. I’ll make sure to announce them as they arise.

Balancing each of them is keeping me on my toes. But the fact that they are both completely different genres of music is broadening me as a vocalist and writer. Miles Kennedy does it with Alter Bridge and Slash, and somehow it all works out, so I will do my best and keep it positive. I find myself stretching my abilities like never before. I’m even taking voice lessons from the Atlanta Rhythm Section and King Karma singer, Shaun Williamson. I went directly to Shaun when I heard that he had coached Glenn Hughes.

So… since I’ve got this highwire balancing act going on I’ve had to take leave of Sweet Home Alabama and hand over the reigns to my friends Jay Cee from 3 Lock Box and Dru Jaxin from Tailgun. Both great singers.

And if that’s not enough… I still have my Reiki/Life Coaching sessions going strong, working on clients, working with students and doing my best to bring a positive message to you every day. Make sure to add me on these sites listed below.

Peace!
