New Kill Ritual Sample Up!

Vocalist | Rock Artist | Live Performer
Well… I have to tell you. Adding one piece of equipment to my recording rig can make all of the difference in the world!
When I started the recording process with Steven a few weeks ago he suggested that I get a DBX 286s Mic Preamp/Processor to mimic what he has in his studio up in San Francisco, so I did. I can not believe the difference. It’s taken the recording process to a whole new level. Last night Taylor had to stop from recording to eat. I had been going 3 hours! It felt like 20 minutes.
For you recording geeks; Macbook Pro 2.6 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8GB of ram (I’d love to up the ram but its a Retina model), M-Audio Mobile Pre running Pro Tools 10, the above mentioned DBX Unit, two different Microphones… for the Kill Ritual recordings I’m using a Rode NT-1. I just added a sweet set of Sennheiser HD 598 headphones running through a PreSonus HP4 Headphone monitor. This rig isn’t the biggest, nor the best, but it does get me some really clean vocals to hand off to a bigger studio for mixing and mastering. Other equipment that I have but not necessarily in use for these recordings are; a Blue Bluebird Microphone, a Lexicon MX200 Reverb Unit, and a Mackie 1402 VLX Pro mixing board.
I’ve got 3 songs down out of 11 so far. Mastering has been set for May with Sonic Train Studios. Steven and I will be flying back and forth every once in a while just so we’re getting some face to face time. This has been some of the smoothest recordings I’ve even done. It’s not just the new rig set up, but the interaction with someone that I can relate with. We both enjoy this process of writing and recording and we look at the final outcome, all ego’s aside. It’s not about us. As it should never be.
The lyrical content I think you will find up to par with other lyrics I’ve written in the past. Although personal (I’ve never been able to write 3rd party), they are open enough to interpretation to anybody. I can’t wait for you to hear this album. It’s going to be epic!!!
Looking through all of the hype for the new album has been pretty mind blowing. Bravewords, MetalHammer, Metal Underground, Metal Italia, Stormbringer, and the list goes on. Thank you everyone that has taken an interest in this. It’s given me encouragement to write even better!
Below are some links for you to check out…..
Peace,
David

Wow! What a whirlwind weekend! I am so exhausted at the moment and could probably sleep for a week but this update needed to get out. So many things happened in four days that I just had to write it down just so I could remind myself of what an awesome time I had.
Wednesday I flew to the Spelled Moon camp to do a photoshoot. Our photographer was amazing and getting to know him was even better seeing as we share a lot of the same philosophies on life. He is a brilliant artist as well and I encourage you to check out his work here…. Danker. The next morning we headed out for NAMM. Claudio Pesavento, Patrick Johansson, Joe Petro, Andy Sarcone Rooney, and myself.
“David Reed Watson! David Reed Watson!”
Taylor and I turning around looking everywhere thinking this
was one of our friends yelling for me only to find out that it was a young lady calling for me. She came up to me and explained to me that she has been following my music career for 4 years! She had been following me since ‘The Constant’ in Los Angeles. This pretty much knocked me off my feet. I mean, we’re used to seeing this happen to famous people… but me? Who am I really in the whole scheme of things? I sat back to reflect on this. If we could all realize the impact we make on others and their lives this world might just have half a chance.
Getting to meet Jeff Scott Soto and being able to thank him for the gig with Rage of Angels. You see, Jeff was Ged Rylands first pick to do the album but with Jeff’s heavy touring schedule it was not possible for him to do it.
Thank you Jeff for opening that door for me. Great guy and a brilliant musician.
I ran into Tommy Denander. Always a pleasure seeing him. He’s one of the greatest guitarists on this planet who’s resume is… extensive to say the least. He introduced me as ‘a great singer from America’ and introduced me to a great singer in Spain. Awesome.. Awesome.
I would like to thank Rod Miller for hooking me up with my first set of in-
ear monitors. They are UE-7s made by Ultimate Ears.
I sat down in the chair and they electronically made a 3D mold of each ear. This will go great with my Sennheiser system that Jason Froberg got for me. Thanks guys!
As exhausting as NAMM is I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I look forward to doing all again next year.
Peace,
David
Hey gang life is always about change and the unexpected… Josh has decided to leave the band due to personal differences and we’re on the search for a new vocalist! We wish him well but life goes on! Our new CD is already written music wise and any killer vocalist can definitely put their stamp on this thing. We’re looking for a traditional Hard Rock/Metal style vocalist with a great writing style and melodic sense. We don’t care where you’re from as long as you rock! Obviously you must be fantastic and respect what we’ve already done. Please check us out thoroughly here or our various sites. We have big plans for this year and look forward to hearing from some quality applicants and moving onto the next chapter of the band. Please contact us here or at killritualmetal@gmail.com
Kill Ritual –Unreleased Track “Drop Dead Gorgeous” Available for Free Download
Kill Ritual have made the unreleased track “Drop Dead Gorgeous” available for free download and streaming on Sound Cloud https://soundcloud.com/killritualmetal/drop-dead-gorgeous and Reverbnation www.reverbnation.com/killritual The song comes off their 2014 release “The Eyes Of Medusa” as a thank you to all the fans that have supported us the last few years. The Track was recorded at Fossil Sound and engineered /produced by Kill Ritual guitarist Steve Rice.
Mr. Rice comments on the tune, “This track reflects a little different style for the band in some ways as it starts off very deceivingly with a ballad type intro , but gets to the Metal fairly quickly after that. It’s a nice tongue in cheek tale of the kind of girl you’d like to take home, but wish you hadn’t! Enjoy!”
